About Urban Therapist

Transforming individuals and organisations through the science of behaviour and the art of wellness.

Our Mission

To redefine how organisations approach mental health and human behaviour — creating workplaces where people don't just survive, but thrive. We exist to bridge the gap between clinical psychology and practical organisational development, delivering evidence-based interventions that produce measurable, lasting change.

We believe that when individuals understand their own behaviour and are equipped with the right mental wellness tools, organisations naturally perform better. Our work is rooted in the conviction that human potential is the greatest untapped resource in any organisation.

Founder & Lead Therapist

Tshoni is a registered mental health professional and organisational development specialist with over 15 years of experience spanning clinical practice, corporate consulting, and entrepreneurial leadership. She founded Urban Therapist with a singular vision: to make mental wellness and behavioural intelligence accessible, practical, and transformative for African organisations.

With qualifications in Psychology and Organisational Development, Tshoni has worked across healthcare, education, corporate, and media sectors. Her unique blend of clinical expertise and business acumen allows her to design interventions that are both psychologically sound and commercially relevant. She has consulted for government departments, private healthcare groups, and fast-growing startups.

Tshoni's approach is distinctly human-centred. She rejects one-size-fits-all solutions in favour of deeply contextual interventions that honour the culture, history, and aspirations of each organisation she serves. Her sessions are known for their warmth, intellectual rigour, and practical applicability — whether she's coaching a CEO through burnout or facilitating a team workshop on psychological safety.

Tshoni envisions a continent where mental health is not a privilege but a standard workplace priority. She is actively building Urban Therapist into a hub for thought leadership, training, and advocacy — creating ripple effects that extend far beyond individual client engagements. Her goal is to train 1,000 mental wellness champions across Africa by 2030.

Our Approach & Methodology

A proven process for sustainable transformation

1. Discovery & Assessment

We begin every engagement with a comprehensive needs assessment — interviewing stakeholders, reviewing existing data, and understanding the unique cultural and operational context of your organisation. This phase ensures our interventions are precisely targeted.

2. Co-Design

We don't prescribe solutions; we co-create them. Working closely with your leadership and HR teams, we design bespoke programmes that align with your strategic goals, budget, and organisational culture.

3. Implementation

Our delivery is dynamic, interactive, and evidence-based. Whether through workshops, coaching, or organisational interventions, we create psychologically safe spaces where real learning and transformation occur.

4. Evaluation & Refinement

We measure what matters. Using pre- and post-intervention assessments, feedback surveys, and behavioural metrics, we track progress and refine our approach to ensure sustained impact.

5. Sustainability Planning

True transformation outlasts our engagement. We build internal capacity through train-the-trainer models, resource development, and ongoing support structures that keep the momentum alive.
